A closest-without-going-over game
Remember the bidding on TV price games: as close as you can to the real price, without going over? Nigh is that idea as a daily trivia game, played with things you know.
Each round sets a limit. A country with fewer than 20 million people. A US state smaller than 50,000 square miles. A Best Picture winner shorter than 2 hours. Name something just under it. The closer you get, the higher Gumnut the koala climbs. Go over and Gumnut falls.
Like The Price Is Right, but trivia
On The Price Is Right, the closest bid that doesn’t go over wins. In the board game Wits and Wagers, you bet on the answer nearest the truth without going over. Nigh takes that rule and turns it into a daily price-is-right style trivia game you can play in a browser in three minutes: one limit per round, and your answer has to land just under it.
Why it’s different
- You name things, not numbers. You don’t guess a price: you pick an answer you think sits just under the line.
- Push your luck. Rest to bank your rung, or Reach for something higher, knowing a miss costs you half.
- No timer. Think it through. The tension is in the push, not the clock.
- Fair numbers. Every list is complete, and every value is checked against two sources.
Five rounds, a new climb every day, free, no sign-up.
