Privacy

Short version: no names, no emails unless you choose to sign in, no ads. Your game lives on your device.

On your device

Your progress, results, streak and settings are saved in your browser’s local storage. Our server gives your browser a random ID in a cookie that page scripts can’t read. It isn’t linked to you. Clearing your site data removes all of it.

Game results

When you finish a day, your result (your rungs, total, falls and the answers you banked) is sent to our server with that random ID. We use it to show how everyone did that day, as percentages only. It can’t be traced back to you.

When you share a result, we note that you shared it and how (the share sheet or a copy to the clipboard), with the same random ID. What you share, and who with, never passes through us.

Checking answers

To check an answer, your browser sends what you typed, the date and the round to our server. Guesses are kept with the random ID only, so we can see which answers players expect to count and add the ones that should. If you report a value as wrong, we keep your note with the same random ID.

Accounts

Signing in is optional. If you sign in, we keep your email address and your games so they follow you between devices. You can delete your account and everything with it from your stats page at any time.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to see how many people play and which parts of the game they use. In the UK, the EU and Switzerland it only sets cookies if you accept them. Google Analytics receives your IP address and basic device information. See Google’s privacy policy, or block it with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Hosting

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security. We don’t use advertising cookies.
